Don’t Wait for the Leak Many Austin homeowners don't think about their roof until they see a water stain on the ceiling. By then, the damage is already internal, leading to mold, rotted decking, and much higher repair costs. The key to saving your roof is prevention. If your roof is between 7 and 15 years old, it is likely in the "danger zone" of drying out. Here are the three telltale signs that your roof is a prime candidate for Go Nano Revive.
Sign 1: Granule Loss (The "Sand" in the Gutters)
Have you noticed a layer of what looks like black sand at the bottom of your downspouts after a rain? Those are granules. These tiny stones are the "armor" of your shingle, protecting the underlying asphalt from the sun. When the asphalt dries out, it loses its grip on these granules. Once they're gone, the shingle is defenseless. Rejuvenation acts like a molecular glue, rebonding those granules to the shingle.
Sign 2: Curling or "Cupping" Edges
Take a look at your roof during the "golden hour" when the sun is low. Do the edges of the shingles look like they are lifting or turning upward? This happens because the shingle has lost its essential oils and is shrinking. This "curling" creates a perfect pocket for wind to catch and rip the shingle off, or for water to blow underneath during a Texas thunderstorm.
Sign 3: Brittle Shingles and "Spalling"
If you (or a professional) were to gently lift the corner of a shingle, it should be flexible. If it feels like it might snap or crack, it is "oxidized." In the industry, we call this spalling. Brittle shingles cannot handle the thermal shock of Austin's 40-degree temperature swings.
When is it TOO late?
It is important to be honest: rejuvenation cannot fix a roof that is already failing. If you have sagging areas, missing shingles, or active leaks that have caused wood rot, you may need a replacement. That’s why we offer a Free Roof Health Inspection. We’ll get up there, take photos, and tell you exactly where your roof stands.
